Özet: In this study, it is aimed to determine the opinions of school administrators about teacher absenteeism. In the study, a phenomenology study, which is a qualitative research method, was conducted. The working group consists of 24 administrators. Using qualitative research methods, information was collected from the participants through interviews and observations. With phenomenological approach the data were interpreted and analyzed. It is seen that 45.8% (f=11) of the participants were female, 54.2% were male, 54.2% had occupational seniority of 10-20 years, 33.3% had 5-10 years, and 12.5% had 20-30 years. 41.7% of the participants think that teachers use the most excused leave, 37.5% do not come to school due to referral, and 20.8% think that they are absent because they receive a report. It is seen that 14 of the participants evaluated the differentiation of teacher absenteeism according to their personal and professional characteristics personally, 4 of them professionally and 6 of them evaluated them both personally and professionally. Some participants who thought that teacher absences differed according to the personal characteristics of teachers emphasized that absenteeism was made especially due to health reasons. In addition, they stated that some teachers who are married often absent both during pregnancy and if they have a child. The reasons for teachers' absenteeism are according to the opinions of the administrators He noted that teachers do not come to school because of an emergency or illness, which usually means that children are sick. When the participant views on the effect of teacher absenteeism on education were examined, it was possible to divide them into student-centered, teacher-centered and schoolcentered themes.
