Özet: The aim of this study is to determine the level of 7 and 8th grade students solving skill-based Turkish questions and the factors affecting this. In this study, in which the descriptive survey method was used, the personal information form prepared by the researchers and the skill-based sample Turkish questions published by the Ministry of National Education were used as data collection tools. The sample of the research consists of 327 students at the 7th and 8th grades studying in 2 state secondary schools from Ordu and 3 from Trabzon. Data were analyzed by using the SPSS 26 program. According to the data obtained, a significant relationship was found between the grade level, school average, parental education level, reading books and test-solving habits, and the level of solving skill-based Turkish questions. There was no significant difference in gender factor. The view of most of the students towards the new generation questions “New generation questions are easy questions that seem difficult.” is in the form. Almost all of the students think that the topics covered in the Turkish lesson help to solve the new generation questions and partially help. In addition, more than half of the students stated that they needed to read several times to understand the new generation questions, so it took five to six minutes to solve the question.
