Özet: The question of the nature of the relations between religion and socio-political life has long been an important topic of discussion. Although it has different variants, secularism ultimately refers to the separation of religion and politics. The arguments commonly used in favor of secularism as a form of socio-political organization consist of concepts such as freedom, justice, peace, tolerance and democracy. However, there are claims that they do not only belong to the secular paradigm, but that they have religious origins and contents that cannot be ignored. Considering the historical continuity on the one hand and the mutual interactions of religion and social life on the other, it is understood that the aforementioned claims are not groundless. This study aims to examine whether the aforementioned set of arguments is intrinsically secular and whether they are compatible only with secular regimes in the light of the relevant discussions.
