Özet: The rate of increase in the elderly population of our country necessitates making arrangements for the performance of elderly care workers in order to increase the quality of elderly care services. Elderly care institutions want their caregivers to exhibit some interactional and emotional qualities while evaluating their human resources. Aim of this study is to evaluate emotional labor of elderly caregiver in their serving units where considered to communicate directly with elderly patients four Nursing Home in Karaman. For this reason, the class positions of the caregivers, their professional perceptions and the forms of emotional labor they perform and the resulting work practices are discussed. The research is designed in phenomenological pattern, one of the qualitative research methods. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 10 elderly caregivers using a semi-structured interview form. After the data collection process, the expressions of the elderly caregivers were analyzed with thematic coding, one of the content analysis methods. It has been observed that the behavioral patterns of elderly caregivers involving emotional labor change according to time and situation. It was concluded that elderly caregivers exhibit emotional labor behaviors as a result of the wishes of their elderly relatives and institutions, pay attention to the rules of showing emotions during their communication with their elderly relatives, and experience more emotional depersonalization than they experience emotional conflict.
