Özet: In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of the trip to the natural history museum on middle school students' awareness and learning about fossils. The study group consisted of 30 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students who participated in the nature education project supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 4004 Nature Education and Science Schools in 2022.In the study, which was based on a case study from qualitative research methods, data were collected with KWL cards. Content analysis was performed on the qualitative data obtained from the KWL cards, and the NVIVO package program was used to analyze the qualitative data. The findings showed that the planned trip to the natural history museum, which is one of the out-of-school learning environments of the participants, increased students' learning and awareness levels. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that trips to out-of-school learning environments should not be limited to projects, but should be included in the education and training programs in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) and other relevant institutions.
