Özet: This study attempts to examine the limitations of post-Islamist approach in analyzing the transformation of Turkish Islamism. Post-Islamism accounts for this transformation on the basis of Ak Party, and it tends to interpret Ak Party’s political discourse as a rupture from Turkish Islamism. According to this approach, since Ak Party highlights such values as moderate laicism, democratic pluralism, and individual differences, Ak Party does not approve a politics and political discourse referring to Islam. In this regard, it represents a rupture from Turkish Islamism, can not be named as an Islamist party, and is the maintenance of a typical central right-wing politics. This idea is often repeated in the adaptation of the Post-Islamist approach to Turkish context. This study questions the validity of this idea. While Ak Party represents a change in Turkish Islamism to some extent, this change does not mean a complete transformation and rupture from the tradition of Turkish Islamism. Ak party can be seen maintenance of Turkish Islamism in the sense of showing awareness of the problems of the Muslim world and making effort to the expression of these problems vigorously. This study examines Ak Party’s discourse and policy towards The Palestine issue, The Arab Spring, and Islamophobia in order to demonstrate this continuity.
