Özet: Natural dyes are colorants obtained from various parts of plants, such as roots, bark, leaves, flowers and fruits, and insects. Besides the large number of dye plants in nature, in the extent of color variety, they are considered the most important ones in dyeing. When people were researching plants, they began to analyze them by crushing, rubbing, or boiling them to see whether they were dyestuff or not, and the coloring process evolved through time in this way. With the increase in the production of dye plants and their usage in recent years, studies about the coloring of natural colorants with natural fiber colors have become more attractive. In this study mohair and hemp yarn was dyed with mordant/ without mordant by using pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), walnut (Juglans regia), onion (Allium cepa), safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) and root dye (Rubia tinctorum L.). The colors collected from the colorings were submitted by tables. Evaluating the results by compression, the colors produced by dying the mohair yarns are shiny and bright, while the colors created from dying the hemp yarns are softer and matte. In the result of the study, the friction fastness of the dyed yarns was determined. In the context of friction fastness, it was determined that the best outcome fromboth of the fiber types was made from the safflower plant. Studies have been carried out on the usage of dyed yarns produced in the scope of the study in woven textile designs. It had been inspired by trees in the mohair surface designs, and from the moss, texture occurred on the trees in hemp surface designs, and storyboards prepared based on images of woven textile surface studies have been made in dobby looms.
