Özet: The oral history method has been employed in many social sciences disciplines like history, sociology, folklore, psychology, music, and education for many years in Turkey and worldwide. Interviews are the primary data source of oral history studies, and their main component is participants. Since the data are collected from the participants, the quality of oral history data is considerably influenced by participants’ characteristics and the provableness of their accounts. Various oral history studies have discussed participant-generated issues and their negative consequences. However, seeing all discussions together in the same study is impossible. The current research aims to establish the participant-derived problems and suggest practical solutions in oral history studies. The researcher used international and national books, chapters, articles, conference papers, and other kinds of studies in this scope, divided the problems into three stages, and suggested practical solutions.
