Özet: The purpose of this study is to determine the elements of vocabulary involved in the first 10 books of the book series named “Ünlülerle Bir Gün” written by Mustafa Orakçı. The research is a qualitative study and document analysis technique was used in the study. The study materials of the research consisted of storybooks written by Mustafa Orakçı named Barbaros’la Bir Gün, Evliya Çelebi’yle Bir Gün, Fatih’le Bir Gün, Hezarfen’le Bir Gün, İbni Sina’yla Bir Gün, Mehmet Akif’le Bir Gün, Mevlana’yla Bir Gün, Mimar Sinan’la Bir Gün, Piri Reis’le Bir Gün, Yunus Emre’yle Bir Gün. The elements of vocabulary examined in the research were determined as proverbs, idioms, reduplications, terms, formulaic expressions, echo words, foreign words, slang expressions, stereotyped words and filler expressions. The data related to the elements belonging to the vocabulary examined in the storybooks were obtained using the document review method. As a result of the document review, the data were subjected to descriptive analysis. For the analysis of the data obtained in consequence of the document review, “categorized content analysis method” was employed. First, each book was reviewed separately, and the elements belonging to the vocabulary used in the stories were categorized within themselves. As a result of the study, it was determined that Mustafa Orakçı included various elements of vocabulary in his stories. It was detected that idioms were mostly used among the elements of vocabulary. It was observed that terms, formulaic expressions, foreign words, reduplications and echo words followed idioms. It was determined that the author did not include slang expressions and stereotyped words in his works which were reviewed. It was observed that only one proverb and a filler word were used in the whole of the stories. In addition, it was concluded that the works of Mustafa Orakçı contribute to children’s vocabulary development, enrichment of their world of emotions and thoughts.
