Özet: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the causes of infant deaths in Düzce between 2014-2017. For this descriptive study, data on infant mortality and stillbirths were obtained from the records of Perinatal and Infant Mortality Information Form and Provincial Infant Mortality Review Board Working Form of Düzce Provincial Health Directorate. In 2014-2017, there were 177 (57.8%) infant deaths and 129 (42.2%) stillbirths in Düzce. Düzce infant mortality rate was 9.58‰ in 2014, 7.74‰ in 2015, 9.80‰ in 2016 and 6.68‰ in 2017. 85 (48.0%) of infant deaths occurred in early neonatal period, 40 (22.6%) of late neonatal period, and 52 (29.4%) of them in postneonatal period. Prematurity / immaturity, congenital anomalies-syndromes, RDS, sepsis, congenital heart diseases are the top five causes of infant mortality. According to these results, it is clear that the most effective factor in decreasing infant mortality rate in Düzce will be the reduction of prematurity and early diagnosis of congenital anomalies.
