Özet: This article traces the transformation of descriptive paradigm into historicist and interpretive paradigm. Focusing on the social context, qualitative research method has gradually been the most preferred method for research. Since the community and individual are dynamic, interpretation is taken as the leading approach while studying phenomenology and cases within this field. The paradigm transformation first affected life sciences then social sciences. It is acknowledged that reality cannot be perceived through single viewpoint. The emphasis on addressing social facts with its own aspects through holistic way has featured qualitative approach in social sciences.
