Özet: It is known that the labor force participation rates of women in Turkey are very low compared to the European Union and OECD countries. This situation is much more evident in the metropolitan cities that have undergone immigration since the 1950s and is one of the most important problems of Turkey with the labor market imbalances and especially the difficulties of labor force participation of women living in urban areas. This study addresses this issue that arises in the urban labor market in the context of women employment. The study analyzes what are the main determinants and trends of women's participation in the workforce and assesses the policy proposals Turkey can implement for better conditions and higher numbers of women's employment.
