Özet: The importance of breastmilk for infant feding is recognized by all countries of the world. Therefore, intense efforts are made inexclusively breastfed infants in our country as well as in other countries.Despit ethese efforts in Turkey,there are stil some problems happening in breastfeeding. This situation is derived from family ignorance regardin the importance of breastfeeding, not enough family awareness of breastfeeding benefits, not knowing by families as to how to dealwith their problems while breastfeeding ,families' wrong beliefs and attitudes related to breastfeeding, not enough preparation for breast-feeding priorto prenatal period, and also mothers not receiving enough support from people around the mandtheir husbands. Participation off athers in the processof breastfeeding and fathers support to their wives in this regard increase the motivation of th emother's breast-feeding and also to help them coping with breastfeeding problems. This article is intended to focuson the importance of fathers support and roles of nurses in the process of breastfeeding.
