Özet: Background: This study was conducted in an attempt to determine the state of using risky substances in high school students. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted between February-May 2015. The study sample, on the other hand, consisted of 462 students that were receiving education at different high schools in the district and were present at school which were allowed to collect data on the day of the data collection. Results: 13.4% of students stated that they smoked and 21.9% had addicts in their environment. The rate ofusing a substance was determined as 13% for students (7.6% alcohol, 2.2% weed and 3.2% any substance). 4.3% of students obtained 2 and higher scores from the CRAFFT survey and they were observed to be using substances in a hazardous way. Conclusion: As a result of this study, high school students were observed to have high rates of using substances. It is suggested to apply programs aimed at the prevention of substance usage, develop national prevention policies and conduct studies for informing families and adolescents.
