Özet: The use of foods for special purposes such as treatment and prevention of diseases has been known for long times. In the recent years, probiotic foods has became very popular in paralel to an increase at scientific inventions on food health relation, accordingly an increase in the interes of consumer to the subject.Beneficial health effects attributed to probiotics are shortening of the duration of rotavirus diarrhea, relief of signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance decreasing the risk of allergy in atopic individuals, cancer prevention, lowering of serum cholesterol levels, prevention of urogenital infections, and synthesis and enhancement of the bioavailability of nutrients
