Özet: Tea is a kind of drink which was consumed mostly in Turkey. Increasement of tea consumption frequency day by day made this drink leave its daily normal function and made it have another cultural function. The tea that is drinkable when somebody is alone changes the atmosphere of conversations and reunions creating the interaction of at least two people or more. Tea has an important role in Turkish culture due to its role in improving interpersonal communication. It is important to work with a focus on tea, as it is a beverage frequently consumed and served in teahouses, in cafes, that it adds sincerity to the environment where it is drunk, and that it has a unifying and harmonizing role. The aim of this study is to search and gain information about the brewing the tea, specialties of tea, the situation of tea in Turkey and following all this information, exploring its role in socio-cultural area. Depending on the purpose of the study, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 10 teachers with different demographic characteristics residing in Istanbul in December 2020 with the interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods. Interviews lasted 35 minutes on average. Every interview was recorded, deciphered and then analyzed. The texts analyzed about tea and personality, characteristics and preparation of tea, rituals associated with tea, effects of tea on sociality and health were evaluated by coding and theming. It can be said that as a result of theming, tea has become a necessity and habit, and calms and relaxes people. As a result of theming, it can be said that tea has become a necessity and a habit, calming and relaxing people. Among the findings obtained from the study are that it has become a tool in terms of communication and socialization, the frequency and habits of tea consumption and the ways of brewing tea can vary from region to region, and behavior patterns related to tea occur in various countries. In-depth interviews with different professional groups in future studies will make it possible to obtain more diverse information about tea.
