Özet: Libraries act as an important bridge between the user and information in accessing information. The professional ethical principles, which put the responsibilities of library staff to the profession, which play an important role in the collection, organization and use of information, have an active role in public libraries as well as in all libraries. Professional ethical principles are indispensable for public library employees, who mostly serve in the community and whose doors are open to everyone. This study, professional ethical perception of librarians who work in the public libraries in Turkey and in this context, it has been prepared in order to determine the applicability status of professional ethics principles through the example of İzmir province. For this purpose, the library employees working in 38 provincial/district public libraries in Izmir province were compiled and evaluated based on the answers given to these questions. The responses of 89 people, including managers and library staff, were analyzed in the focus of the research using the SPSS statistical software program. As a result of the responses given by the public library staff who participated in the survey, employees do not have enough awareness of professional ethical principles and their competence to do the "right" in situations of professional ethical dilemmas.At the end of the study, attention was drawn to the necessity of revising the professional ethical principles in line with today's changing dynamics and service understanding and them in a way to fully embrace all stakeholders and suggestions were made based on the findings.
