Özet: One of the goals of health promotion is the ability to change individual behaviors to encourage healthy living. In this context, health promotion activities focus on behavioral risks that are under the control of individuals such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, and sedentary life. In this study, the effect of m-health applications on the change of an individual's self-controlled behavior and its role in health promotion has been evaluated. To what extent mobile applications and social media groups formed by individuals using these applications are effective in developing positive health behaviors such as physical activity and weight control has been investigated with the literature review conducted with the keywords 'm-health applications', 'm-health' and 'health promotion’. According to the results of the literature review, the effect of mobile health applications on individuals to develop positive health behaviors to improve their health is too great to ignore. Technical features such as nutritional values, exercise recommendations, evaluation of physical findings such as pedometer and heart rate measurement in these applications should be established with professional support. In addition, in order for applications to make personalized health recommendations, necessary legal regulations must be made and security measures that may arise from information sharing risks must be taken.
