Özet: In the present century, an integrated lifestyle with changing perception of comfort and technological developments also affects physical space designs. This process of change is reflected in the expectations and demands of the students who are the main users of the dormitories. The dormitories are not only a place for housing and working areas but also a new role that contributes to the socialization of students. The scope of this research is the definition of student dormitory architectural project design process and spatial demands and expectations. Especially in the last 10 years, the number of universities in our country has led to an increase in the housing problems of undergraduate and graduate students. In this context, student dormitory projects are carried out by public or private sector. The aim of this study is to determine the basic characteristics for the student dormitory building planned for Hasan Kalyoncu University and to share the experiences gained in the building design process. This also includes a process design. In the study, an architectural design process that includes user participation in the example of dormitory and the space organization that emerged at the end of this process are defined. The findings of the study show that the expectations of the social activity and recreation areas, as well as the changing areas of life, working areas, have changed in the current century. However, there are new expectations from the dormitories in the context of developing technological relations. On the one hand, the findings obtained from the research provide an innovative approach to the architectural design process and on the other hand provide important clues for the new dormitory buildings in the public, private and public-private sector.
