Özet: Fairy tales meet children at a very early stage due to the extraordinary nature of their fiction, their imaginative nature, and the fact that they are seen by adults as a means of educating children. Andersen's tales have also been included in Turkish children's literature through translation and have been among the tales that have been read frequently in these meetings for years. In this study, 50 of the art tales written by Hans Christian Andersen were examined in an attempt to determine the suitability of the messages for children. For this purpose, case study as a method was adopted. The data were collected by document analysis method and analyzed with content analysis. The messages thought to be negative by the researcher were presented to the Turkish teachers for their opinions, who worked in secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the Osmangazi District of Bursa Province. Based on the opinions of 134 Turkish teachers who participated in the study, it was identified that 3 messages in fairy tales were not suitable for the child as they affirmed magic and cunning, and did not present people equally. Furthermore, it was concluded that the way the messages were presented in the fiction was as important as the messages. In Andersen's tales, even true messages are presented with a narrative that includes fear, violence and superstition. For this reason, it is recommended that Andersen’s tales and other translated works be examined as a subject of scientific study in terms of suitability for children in a multidimensional way.
