Özet: Today, global financial centers have become an important topic at the center of economic policies with the proliferation of international trade and the intensification of capital mobilities. With the shift of the balance of economic power from the West to the East, important financial centers in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore and Dubai have been added to big financial centers such as London and New York. Turkey has started to work to position İstanbul as a global financial center by the decision in 2009. In this study, the criteria of being a global financial center is emphasized and global financial centers in the world are evaluated within the framework of the global financial centers index. In this context, advantages and disadvantages of becoming a global financial center for the İstanbul Finance Center Project are examined in this paper.
