Özet: This article reviews the U.S. perception of the Turkic–speaking space in light of the official discourse and policies, as well as the significance of the Turkic world’s fast–moving strategic and economic dynamics for the American interests. It is claimed here that the U.S. engagements with the region are largely shaped by Washington’s strategic and economic interests and that it pursues a conjunctural, pragmatic and region–oriented foreign policy towards the Turkic world in parallel with those interests. While the Turkic world is seen as disunited and highly fragmented area in terms of its politics, economy and international relations, Washington continues to maintain policies that embed the region within a wider regional, notably the South Asia and the Middle East, and global agendas and policies. The study concludes that the U.S. administrations constantly pursue a coherent policy grounded in the denial of the usage of the “Turkic world” concept with overtly political–strategic tones
