Özet: Objective: This study aims to evaluate the attitudes of university students towards violence and domestic violence, give direction to the studies that raise awareness and contribute to the solution of social problems. Methods: This descriptive study was carried out with 237 students studying at a university between 21 January - 21 April 2019 in Istanbul. In the data collection, the descriptive characteristics form, Adolescents' Attitudes Towards Violence Scale (AATVS) and Domestic Violence Attitude Scale (DVAS) were used. Results: The mean age of the students was 19.29±1.35 and the majority of them were girls (81.5%). The mean total score of the students from the AATVS was 15.3±5.65, and the mean total score of the DVAS was 19.6±7.4. The dimensions that have the highest average in attitudes towards domestic violence are causality and normalization of violence. It was determined that female students didn’t approve the violence (p = 0.001) and especially domestic violence (p = 0.00) statistically advanced and significantly, compared to the male students. There was a positive and significant relationship between AATVS and DVAS mean scores. Conclusion: In this study, students generally didn’t approve of violence and viewed domestic violence negatively. The girl students didn’t support violence and domestic violence according to male students, and their attitudes towards violence and domestic violence weren’t affected by the characteristics such as family definition, economic status, and educational status of parents. As the students' tendency to fight and use rough force increased, their attitudes towards domestic violence increased.
