Özet: Background: This study was conducted to determine the factors causing stress in the operating room environment and the stress sources of the operating room nurses. Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out with 75 operating room nurses working in University and State Hospitals in Aydın. The data were collected with "Personal Information Form", "Operating Room Environment Stressors Form" and "Stress Source Scale". Data were analyzed using Descriptive statistical analyzes, Kolmogorov Smirnov Test,T-test and ANOVA tests. Results: It was determined that operating room nurses had a tendency to develop disease according to the scores they received from "social stressors" and "stressors originating from the physical environment", and the probability of developing disease according to the scores they received from "work-related stressors" and "self-interpretation stressors". It was found that the scores of social stressors of the female gender among the nurses were high and there was a statistically significant difference compared to the male gender (p <0.05). No significant difference was found between the other independent variables and the scores obtained from the stressors (p> 0.05). Operating room nurses reported that they experienced in-team communication problems (48%), conflicts with the team (47%) and were exposed to aggressive and angry behaviors (50%). Operating room nurses reported staying indoors for a long time (50%), long-term surgeries (37%), discomfort due to physical conditions in the working environment (61%) as sources of stress related to the operating room environment. Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that there are many sources of stress related to the social, physical, work-related and self-interpretation of the operating room nurses, and there are also factors that cause stress in the operating room environment.As a result of the data of the study, it can be said that the stress sources that may affect the health and motivation of operating room nurses should be determined and organizational improvements should be structured.
