Özet: During the USSR, the development of sociology in Azerbaijan, as in all areas of the empire, was possible in the fields of economics, ethics, social philosophy and other sciences. Sociology has not developed as an independent science. Sociological research in Azerbaijan was conducted directly by the staff of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS. Opinions about society and social relations are analyzed through the prism of philosophical and socio-political views of a thinker who lived in a certain period. The scientific novelty of the research is connected for the first time with the study of the history of development of sociological thought in our country during the Soviet period. Here is a brief commentary on the development of sociology as a science in Azerbaijan from the 1940s to the 1980s, and directly from the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS, prominent specialists of the 40-80s of the XX century, society, Soviet society, stratification of Soviet society, the formation of the Soviet man., the attitude to labor in the Soviets, the Marxist-Leninist foundations of general ideology, etc. information on research on issues. Another novelty of the article is the use of archival documents. Its practical significance is the opening of opportunities to present to the next generation the history of the development of sociology and sociological thought in our country during the Soviet era. As a result of the study of sociological thought and the development of sociological science in Azerbaijan during the Soviet period, we can say that the study of this period is very important in terms of studying the foundations of Soviet society, which chose a special direction of development.
