Özet: Having a child is an important and problematic for families and especially for mothers. If the family has disabled kid then it is more difficult comparing to families with normal children. Empowerment and social support have an important role for families in terms of dealing with these problems. Empowerment approach is an effective method in social work for families with disabled child. This approach makes families accept the disability of the kid and leads them to plan a better future for their child. Group works are really important while working with parents of disabled child. Not feeling alone, meeting people with the same problem and sharing problems within the group provides social support for families. The aim of this study is to empower the families with disabled children by group work and to give information about effectiveness of group work in problem centered applications
