Özet: As a result of the impacts of globalization, the theories on region and regional development have changed and new concepts have emerged. In this article, while stating impacts of newly emerging New Regionalism Approach, policies proposed for the region and regional planning implementations in Turkey has been searched. The importance of (regional) development agencies, which is a strategic tool of the new Regionalism Approach has been determined regional planning, regional development and their emergence process. It was proposed that in regional planning studies in Turkey tools of the new Regionalism approach should be merged to the practice by directing planning. Results achieved, a provision of a new perspective for regional plans implemented and policies of regional development was targeted. Departing these results, for development of the regions as a region and availability of realizing other related studies, the proposal of a significant role assignment to regional development agencies was made.
