Özet: During the years 1986-1992, 70 cases of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) were operated at the cardiovascular surgery clinic of Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Hastanesi. As concomittant coronary atherosclerosis being the most impor¬tant factor that effect the early and late mortality arter the surgical treatment of AAA, all the elective cases underwent routine coronary arteriography. Coronary artery lesions were found in 32 (% 45.8 %) of case. All the cases with critical left anterior descending artery stenosis underwent coronary bypass operations (CABG). in 13 cases. CABG were performed 2.1 months prior to the abdominal intervention, whereas 3 cases were operated concomittantly. Additionally, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty was performed to 3 cases 3-4 days before the abdominal surgery. Early mortality rate was 2.8 % (2 cases). Late follow up were achieved in 68 cases. The mean follow up was 2.67 year/patient (3-76 months). Six case died during the late follow up period. Cum ulative survival rates were 98.5 °İ0 for 6 months. 98.5 °A for 1 year, 90.6 % for 2 years, 87.3 % for 3 years and 81.8 % for 6 years. The results of this study emphasizes that coronary artery revascularization importantly effects the early and late survival rates.
