Özet: Parenteral nutrition is frequently a choice in the management of malnutrition due to sepsis, cancer and trauma. Ho• wever, complications such as phlebitis and thromboses often arise related to the type and duration of the catheter and the osmolarity of the solution infused. in our ward, parenteral nutrition was applied to 168 patients tora variety of reasons. 14.8 % of the patients developed thrombophlebitis, hence we concluded that long term infusion of hyperosmolar solutions through the same catheter and insertion of the catheter via an incision to the vein had served in the formation of thrombophlebitis.
