Özet: From March 1996 to March 1997 Nine cases were operated on far infrarenal aortic lesions via left ret roperito neal approach . The operation was abdominal aortic aneurysm in eight cases, and a•ortiliac occlusive disease in one case. Ali of the patients were male and the mean age was 62.67 ± 7.75 years (48 - 70 years). üne patient died of Sigmoid colon ısch emia in the early postoperative period . One patient required femoral embolectomy. The rest of the p ati n ets d eveloped uneventful p ostop erative period. The man int ensive care period was 2 days and hospital stay w as 5 days. Eight p at ients were discharged form the hospi t al w itho ut any problem. in conclusion; retroperitoneal approach is sui tab l e fa r the patients with chronic obstru ctive lung disease, horse shoe kidney, inflam atuar abdominal aortic aneurysm, and history of previous ab dominal op erations.
