Özet: In this study we compared the effects of unfractionated heparin(UH) with low molecular weight heparin(LMWH) in the prophylaxis of recurrent peripheral arlerlal thromboembolisms artar surgical intervention. We analysed 255 camı of acute peripheral arkada' embolism who were treated surgically, retrospectively. Atter the operalion 167 paılents were treated with UH , whereas 88 had LMWH Injections and , both groups were observed for recurrent episodes. In the UH group 45 patients (27°İ4 were operaled secodarily.11 patients (6.5%) had a recurrent emboll, and 7 (4%) had bleeding. In this group the amputation rata is14%,and the mortality rale Is 11%. In the LMWH group,21 patients (24%) had a second operation, and recurrent emboli was feund in 5 (5.6%) of them, 3 Patients (3,4%) had a bleeding event .The amputation rata is 12.5%, and the mortality rata is14.7%. Asa result, although there lanet a sensible difference between unfraclionated heparin and low molecular weight he-parin as a prophylaclic agent , in the prevention ol recurrent embolic altacks atlar surgery ler acute peripheral arta-dal thromboembolism , low molecular weight heparins are proved to be more advantageous being easer to use and follow tıp.
