Özet: In cardiovascular pathologies, the process of being popular lor nitric oxide began with nitrates. in earlier times, nit rogliserin was used to eliminate acute anginas, and !hen together with efficient nitrates they have been used to pre vent coronary artery disease, anginas and ischemia by chronic treatment. Nitrates has been atracted attention scien tifically since Furchgott determined the effect mechanism in 1987 and today even potential antiatherosclerotic indica tion site is discovered by comprehending antiproliferative properties. New pharmacologic effects and potential clinic indications were determined within lası ten years. Nitric oxide was given honour of being chosen as year's molecule in 1992 December by Journal Science. As a resul! of examining the outcomes of conducted studies and verifying them in greater patient populations, it was seen that nitric oxide was a primary physiologic transmitter having physi cal effects with broad spectrum. Stili, researches have been made in order to analyze usage of nitric oxide tor speci fic organs or systems. Besides, having been chosen as year's molecule, it deserves the !itle of "the molecule of future".
