Özet: A major gastrointestinal complication after transpe ritoneal aortic surgary is anusual but it may be disastrous. We determine risk factors, associated events and outcomes lor patients with gastrointestinal complications in this ret rospective study. We examined 750 patients who underwent transperitoneal aortic revascularization tor aneurysmal or occlusive dissease in ten years period. Gastrointestinal complications developed in 65 patients (%8.6) following;paralyt ic ileus that required replacement of nasogastric tubes (35 patients),gastrointestinal bleeding(6patients) mechanical ileus (6 patients) ,aorto duodenal fis tula (3 patients),colon ischemia(2 patients),colitis and diarrhea(1O patients),acute cholecystitis (2 patients),ascites (one patient). The mean stay in the intensive care unit was 15-60 days.5 deaths occured by caused multisystem organ failure. The se results show that gastrointestinal complications are coincidence in transperitoneal aortic surgery and are associ ated with severe morbidity rates and increased hpspital costs bacause of prolonged stay and increased mortality rates.
