Özet: Purpose: To evaluate indications and the results of extra-anatomic bypass grafting performed in our clinic. Materials and Method: The results of the 13 patients, median age 54 years (range 35-70), 1 female and 12 male, underwent extra-anatomic bypass grafting between November 1990 and December 2004 were investigated retrospectively. The patients having undergone femorofemoral crossover, axillofemoral, obturator and ileofemoral crossover bypasses using autogen saphenous and prosthetic vascular grafts were included into the study. Indication for surgery was claudication in 10 (77%) patients and rest pain in 3 (23%) patients. Results: Patients were followed up 15 months on average. During follow-up period, greft thrombosis was observed in only one patient underwent femoro-femoral bypass. There was no mortality in the short period, but five of the patients were died due to peritonits, myocardial infarction, and pneumonia in the long period. Conclusion: Extra-anatomic bypass grafts may be appropriate for high-risk patients with severe aortoiliac disease who require revascularization for either limb salvage or incapacitating claudication.
