Özet: Critical limb ischemia is a clinical pathology with rising incidence characterized by rest pain, persistant wounds at feet, and gangrene. Its preventable risk factors are control of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, cessation of smoking and treatment of hyperlipidemia. Treatment steps include preventive therapy, revascularization with surgery and amputation. There are medical therapy and pain therapy schema options with numerous pharmacological agents for patients before surgery and when surgery is not possible. With the help of various pain treatment protocols, pain is releived, wound healing accelerated, amputation drawn to distal levels, delayed or even prevented. In this paper we will discuss about supportive treatment options in this area and developing treatment methods. (Turkish J Vasc Surg 2006;15(2):1-9).
