Özet: Pulmonary embolism is a disease that may cause such serious hemodynamic instability as right ventricular failure and cardiogenic shock. It requires immediate treatment as it can lead to mortality if medical intervention is not provided. Anticoagulant and thrombolytic therapy should be considered for the treatment of massive pulmonary embolism. Systemic thrombolytic therapy can be performed along with conventional central venous catheter; besides, thrombolytic drugs can be injected directly into thrombus via ultrasonographic catheter placed in pulmonary artery. While direct thrombolytic therapy guided by ultrasonographic catheter is a method that has been used for the last few years throughout the world, it has not been performed in Turkey until quite recently. We, in this study, aimed to present the aforementioned method used for the first time in Turkey in two cases.
