Özet: Objective: Venous ulcers in patients with chronic venous insufficiency are the most common forms of lower extremity leg ulcers. It is a chronic disease which decreases the quality of life and causes labour loss. The frequency of venous leg ulcer in developed countries is 1-4%. In this study we aimed to study the effectiveness of four layer compression bandage treatment in chronic venous leg ulcers. Material and Methods: Twentyfive patients with chronic venous leg ulcer who presented to the Namık Kemal University Cardiovascular Surgery outpatient clinic were included into the study. The area of the ulcer was calculated for each patient before the treatment. Four layer compression bandage (Betaven) was applied to every patient and the wound healing was follo- wed weekly for 24 weeks. Oxerutin 1000 mg/day tratment was prescribed to all of the patients in addition to the compression bandage treatment. Results: All of the patients were male with a me- an age of 48.4 ± 3.2. The ulcer area was 3-10 cm2 in 18 patients and larger than 10 cm in 7 patients. The patients were followed for 24 weeks. The healing period was 4-12 weeks (mean 6.04 weeks). Conclusion: We believe that, four layer compression bandage therapy has easy applicability and proven efficacy in the treatment of chronic venous leg ulcers.
