Özet: Upper extremity deep vein thrombosis is quite rare. However, its incidence is cur- rently increasing in relation with the use of chemotherapy, dialysis, parenteral nutrition, and use of central venous catheters used due to diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. One of the factors rendering the upper extremity deep vein thrombosis is that a portion of the cases are asymptomatic, and another one is the development of pulmonary embolism in approximately one-third of the pa- tients. Although venography is still the standard method for the diagnosis, color Doppler ultrasound examination is the most frequently used method since it is non-invasive and reliable. Until recently, the treatment of deep vein thrombosis consisted of conventional treatment strategies including anticoagulants, thrombolytic applications and surgical thrombectomy. However, the treat- ment options with percutaneous catheter applications emerging in the recent years for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis not only had extended our horizons, but also led to quick and safe treatment alternatives. We aimed to present a successful rotational thrombectomy in a patient admitted with acute deep vein thrombosis in the left upper extremity after coronary artery bypass surgery two months previously.
