Özet: Water, which has been an important place since Creation, has been a source of life for people since the early ages. Therefore, people have settled in the area where water resources exist and have established their civilizations in these regions. Like in all societies, "water" in Indian society has a great importance. Because they believed that they could not make sense of themselves in the face of various natural phenomena they could not understand and could only make these natural phenomena a divine force. Therefore, each god (dess) gave the name according to this idea. Indeed, a kind of animism is also a sign of water ash, which is quite common in Indian society. As a water cult, natural phenomena that is fire, rain, and sun has been known as divinise. Agni is known that as "fire", Indra "storm", Dyaus "sky, heaven", Prthivī "world", Surya "sun", Ushas "dawn". It is also seen that in Rgveda, the earliest book of the Hindus considered to be written in the 1500s B.C, there are the provinces with names such as "water, river" as well as the provinces presented to the gods. In this study, we will try to reveal information about the way of life of the society by examining how they divine water in their holy books. The study will be about the "water" and "river" hymns of Rgveda, the first important holy book of the Indians.
