Özet: Essential tremor (ET) is among the more prevalent neurological disorders. The prevalence rates vary according to the studies, which makes it difficult to determine the prevalence precisely. In this study we aim that 1) The prevalence of ET was determined by visiting door to door in Istanbul-Maltepe District, by visiting 24769 individuals aged 18-60 2) In Turkey, between the years of 2003-2019, studies conducted with similar methods were analyzed, and ET prevalence and gender and age distributions were analyzed and the differences were examined. The prevalence of ET in the 18-60 age group in Maltepe district of Istanbul was calculated as 226,454 per hundred thousand. Prevalence value increases with age. There is no difference between genders in terms of prevalence rate. It shows similar results for ages ande genders in other prevalence studies conducted in our country. In Edirne, the prevalence values are high in the study conducted in the whole society over the age of 18 and in the prevalence study conducted in individuals between the ages of 18-60 in Erzurum. ET prevalence rate in Turkey varies from 0.22 to 6.1%. Prevelance differences may be related to regional, environmental, genetic or method of study.
