Özet: The information society myth and the new information and communication technologies (ICT), appeared in 70s in the US and diffused all around the world in 90s, take place in the heart of the global corporate capitalism. Information society policies facilitate the reconstruction of ICT sectors in a worldwide scale and contribute to the technology transfer from industrialized countries to the countries less industrialized. This study aims to give an overview of the information society policies in Turkey where ICT sectors and policies largely determined by external factors such as international finance institutions and European Union.
