Özet: Journalist Abidin Daver (1886-1954) wrote about several topics from politics to seamanship. In addition to his books, he managed to find an ambitious audience for his articles on naval issues equipped with historical, political, economic, and technical information. In his column, he focused on the Ottoman/Turkish maritime history, questioning the naval identity of Turks either implicitly or explicitly. Both before and after the 2nd World War, he endeavored to open up the horizon of seamanship in Turkey by mentioning the military and commercial problems, errors, and deficiencies as well as giving suggestions. This study aims to contribute to Turkish maritime history by examining his perspective of naval issues
