Özet: Cognitive radio has been regarded as a promising technology to improve spectrum utilization significantly. In recent years, some researchers deal with spectrum management problem of cognitive radio networks. Peng et al. defined a general framework that defines the spectrum access problem. Their algorithm reduced the allocation problem to a variant of the graph coloring problem. Their results indicated that proposed algorithm can reduce interference and improve throughput. After this research, Zhao et al. used Genetic Algorithm, Quantum Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization to outperform the commonly used color sensitive graph coloring algorithm in 2009. In this paper, spectrum allocation model is presented firstly, and then spectrum allocation method based on modified genetic algorithm is proposed. To increase the spectrum utilization we propose a new selection process between conflicting cognitive users. Experimental results indicate that proposed method improves spectrum utilization compared other works in the literature. Results also show that proposed algorithm finds the better results in less time.
