Özet: Turkish foreign trade expanding between 1930 and 1938 especially after 1934. This expansion could not continue after 1939. In September 1939, 1 (Prof. Dr.), İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi,when the Second World War started. Turkey had just entered the new export season. While the share of investment goods in total imports reached 50 % 1939 because of the difficulties of having Access to investment goods during the war, this percentage fell to 30 in 1945. After thewar, the share of investment goods increased again reaching 39 % in 1946. During the war, Turkish foreign trade has showen important improvements, the principal cause of these improvements has to do with the favorable price changes. All through the period, we abserve a surplus of the balance of trade. However, foreign trade took place under very difficult circumstances and given the difficulties of tramsportation and payment, state intervention in trade reached its maximum, while the valume of trade declined, price increases resulted in higher values of exports an imports
