Özet: The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence level of nurses and their communication skills. Relational screening model was used in the study. Research data were obtained from 200 nurses who worked at the two state hospitals affiliated to the Public Hospitals Association. Data were collected using Personal Information Form, Emotional Intelligence Scale and Communication Skills Inventory. Data were analysed by definitive statistics, pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. It was determined that the nurses’ emotional intelligence level is high and their level of communication skills is good. A positive, meaningful and moderate relationship was identified between the emotional intelligence level and communication skills of the nurses. It was determined that the interpersonal skills dimension of emotional intelligence significantly predicts nurses' cognitive communication skills and the stress coping dimension of emotional intelligence significantly predicts nurses' emotional and behavioral communication skills.
