Özet: al-Buk̲h̲ārī and Muslim’s Ṣaḥīḥs are considered as the most ṣaḥīḥ books, second only to the Quran. There is no controversy among scholars about this. al-Buk̲h̲ārī and Muslim’s taking a hadīt̲h̲ report by a rāwī to their books means that this rāwī is ʿadil one and that this hadīt̲h̲ must be accepted. For this reason, there is a general conviction that ‘If a rāwī succeeded in being in al-Buk̲h̲ārī’s and Muslim’s books, it means that he got through the ʿadl exam’. Yet, it is difficult to say that this understanding is accepted totally as a result of a scientific report. Therefore, scholars have adapted this case as valid not for a rāwī taken to books by al-Buk̲h̲ārī and Muslim as mutābī and s̲h̲ahīd, but for rāwīs taken to books for evincing. This study aims to reveal the favoured opinion about the matter and the meaning of this principle accepted for al-Buk̲h̲ārī and Muslim. In this article, al-Buk̲h̲ārī and Muslim’s rāwīs about whom there is criticism are investigated in this respect, and it has been emphasized why the author gave place to hadīt̲h̲ reports by these rāwīs in their books. Another aim of this article is to determine whether it expresses a general taʿdīl for these rāwīs considering al-Buk̲h̲ārī and Muslim gave place to hadīt̲h̲ reports by them.
