Özet: Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.), which is a member of the Compositae (Asteraceae), mainly for edible oil obtained from the seeds is used as canary grass grown. In recent years, the usage of vegetable oils for biodiesel production has led to increase in the importance of oilseed plants. Safflower is one of the potential plants that can be used in biodiesel production. For the cultivation of safflower, Turkey has a very favorable climatic and soil conditions. Seed and oil yield, fatty acid composition and oil – fuel related characteristics, which are affected by variety and environmental conditions. In this study, registered in our country safflower varieties of Remzibey-05 which is grown in Yozgat ecologic conditions aimed to determine the fatty acid composition and biodiesel fuel properties which is produced oil obtained from this variety.
