Özet: This study was conducted in the experimental fields of Department of Field Crops of Agriculture Faculty at Ege University in 2011 and 2012. The study focused on the effects of different harvesting stages (April, May, June, July and August) and rate of cutting (green herbage harvest at 50 and 100%) on the herbage yield and some yield characteristics of Shrub-Medic (Medicago arborea). For this aim, some characteristics such as, dry matter yield, crude protein content of the leaves and stems, crude protein yields of the leaves and stems, crude ash contents of the leaves and stems, crude ash yields of the leaves and stems were measured. Results indicated that highest hay yield (358.1 g plant-1) was obtained from the five years old crops cut at the rate of 50% during the early spring and April. Our findings in terms of steam crude protein ratio (19.5%), leaf and steam crude protein yields (46.0 g plant-1 and 17.8 g plant-1), leaf and steam crude protein ratios (12.8% and 8.71%) and yields (28.6 g plant-1 and 8.0 g plant-1) displayed the similar result.
