Özet: Erosion is a constant event which has started together with formation of earth and climate events, accelerated with human-soil relations and recognized late in terms of its harm. While natural erosion is considered as replacement for soil, the accelerated erosion signifies degradation and loss of soil. It is required to know erosion and its effects well in order to take necessary and economical measures and reduce loss of soil. Encountered in bare, dry and loose soils in arid and semi-arid areas, the wind erosion could be more harmful by adding tiny soil particles in the air compared to water erosion. Tiny soil particles in the air may remain in such way for a long time even at very low wind velocities. Particulates less than 10 µm diameter defined especially as PM10 threaten our health by passing through respiratory tracts. This study introduced erosion event, terminology, wind erosion and Iğdır-Aralık wind erosion area, which is the second largest wind erosion in Turkey.
