Özet: Walnut past to present is an important agricultural products grown in Turkey. In recent years, due to the increasing population of the country and the decrease in agricultural areas day by day, the amount of walnuts produced is not sufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to identify suitable areas in alternative regions and places for walnuts. In this study, the Tonya disctrict of Trabzon province was selected as a pilot region in the Black Sea Region, a region where walnut planting is not considered. This basin covers the borders of Tonya, Vakfıkebir, Şalpazarı, Beşikdüzü and Çarşıbaşı districts. In this pilot region, slope, view, elevation, numerical elevation model and soil analysis were made with the help of ArcGIS 10.5 software, which is a geographic information systems program, and appropriate locations were determined. In addition, suitable areas were overlapped with the forest lands in the basin and forest areas suitable for walnut planting were also identified.
